Lighting the Way for Brett’s Recovery

When adversity hits, we don’t fold.
We rally.
We lean on our team.
We do the work, one rep at a time.

This 2025 candle season, 37 Candle is stepping onto the field with that same mindset.

All proceeds from this year’s candle sale will be donated to support our friend, Brett Wycinski, as he fights his way back to health.

If you know this brand, you know it was never just about candles. What started as a family tradition built on resilience and finding purpose in tough times has evolved into something bigger. Today, 37 Candle exists to give back — to turn that purpose into action by supporting individuals and families fighting their own uphill battles. The Fullback mentality still drives us, but now the goal isn’t just to move the chains for ourselves… it’s to help others move theirs when life hits hardest.

This year, that mission gets personal.

Brett and I share a rare bond: we are both survivors of second impact syndrome, a catastrophic brain injury that ends careers and changes lives in a heartbeat. Years ago, Brett sat across from me on my podcast and told the world how he battled back from that trauma. His toughness, humor, and relentless spirit inspired everyone who listened.

And then, in August 2023, Brett faced a new opponent.

He was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (Miller Fisher variant) — a rare autoimmune condition where the body attacks the nervous system. The result?

Paralysis. Loss of mobility. Difficulty breathing.
A complete shutdown of the systems that allow movement and independence.

For months, Brett lay hospitalized, unable to move, fighting through setback after setback. But here’s what separates champions:

He never stopped competing.

With the unwavering support of his wife, Veronica, his parents, and the tight-knit group known as the Wycinski Warriors, Brett is attacking rehab the same way he approached the football field — with grit, discipline, and a refusal to let circumstances define him. Every day, he’s putting in the reps: relearning to move, to breathe, to stand, to reclaim his life inch by inch.

But even the strongest athletes can’t battle alone.

Extended hospitalization, specialized neurological rehab, equipment, rising insurance costs, and decreasing financial support have placed a massive burden on the Wycinski family. And that’s where we step in as a team.

When you purchase a 37 Candle this season, you’re not just lighting your home.

You’re helping light the path of recovery for a man who refuses to quit.

Every dollar of profit from this sale will directly support:

  • Medical expenses

  • Rehabilitation and therapy

  • Specialized equipment and care needs

Your contribution ensures the Wycinski family can focus on the most important objective: Brett’s recovery.

Thank you for being part of this community, this team, and this mission.

Together, we can move the chains for Brett.
One yard at a time.

What Is Guillain-Barré Syndrome?

From a performance and medical perspective, Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the peripheral nerves responsible for movement, sensation, and vital functions.

It can cause:

  • sudden paralysis

  • severe weakness

  • loss of mobility

  • difficulty breathing or swallowing

Recovery requires extensive rehabilitation, retraining the nervous system and musculature to communicate and function again. Progress is slow, demanding patience, consistency, and an elite level of mental toughness.

And Brett is meeting that challenge head-on.
